Cat Dental

Dental disease affects cats as much as it does people. The accumulation of bacteria laden plaque can lead to long term oral health issues. Over 80% of adult cats have some form of periodontal disease and recent studies have shown an association between oral hygiene and more general health issues.  Good dental care is a major factor in your cat’s health as bacteria from a cat’s mouth can spread through its bloodstream causing problems in its heart, lungs,
liver and kidneys.

A program that includes regular feline dental hygiene, an appropriate diet, as well as periodic dental examinations and cleaning can extend the life of your cat’s teeth. This also prevents painful oral conditions and ensures better overall health for your cat.

While daily brushing is the optimum way to care for your cat’s teeth, not everyone can do it (and most cats won’t tolerate it!). We pay close attention to each cat’s dental status at every examination and make recommendations for optimal oral care. This may include periodic brushing, water additives, diet modification or periodic dental procedures that are performed in a very safe and cost-effective manner.
